7. Favorite holiday tradition
Charlene Blohm: Stockings, which my husband’s family introduced me to many years ago. It’s entertaining to shop for lots of little surprises to stuff into a stocking, and to find similar surprises in your own stocking.
Andria Casey: Every year my mom buys each of us an ornament that has to do with something in our lives that year. I’ve received Lion King and Little Mermaid ornaments commemorating childhood movie favorites, a guitar the year I began lessons, theatre masks the year I got the lead in the high school play, and a Badger ornament for my first Rose Bowl.
Emily Embury: Simply put, my family gathering together to celebrate the holidays.
Saul Hafenbredl: Christmas Eve dinner at my parents’ house with the entire extended family.
Martha Jacobs: Each year after dinner and holiday deserts are consumed, we gather around the table and toast our relatives who have passed. It’s often emotional but also brings many memories of good times, and a lot of laughs.
Paul Mamelka: Since moving back to Wisconsin from Texas, it’s been spending Christmas with Charlene’s Mom and Dad, and ice-skating the outdoor rinks of Seymour. Sadly, the ice has not cooperated the past couple of years. New tradition: rollerblading!
Kristen Plemon: Trimming the tree with my family. We play Christmas music and drink eggnog while we decorate. All of the ornaments on our tree have sentimental value, whether it’s handmade by my children or special ones my parents have given to me over the years.
Chris Swietlik: Christmas shopping with my dad. Every year I go with him to the mall the weekend before Christmas and brave the crowds to help him pick out some gifts for my mom.
Katie Waite: My favorite holiday tradition is baking Christmas cookies with my mom. It always makes me feel like a kid again.
Adam Wise: Since meeting my wife four years ago, I’ve had the wonderful ability to celebrate Christmas with not only my family, but now my terrific set of in-laws. The more holiday celebrations, the merrier.
