CTE Month is in full swing. Recently our education PR pro’s highlighted emerging trends that promise to be major areas of interest in 2017, and how you can get more involved through programs from the Association of Career and Technical Education (ACTE).
What about the professionals working in the trenches each and every day? CTE Month is a time to celebrate the people creating opportunities for students to pursue their career and academic interests. The companies and individuals investing their time and money into programs, curriculum materials, and certifications are ultimately the ones ensuring that our education system, workforce and economy thrive both today and in the future.
While attending the ACTE CareerTech VISION conference in Las Vegas last December, our education PR team had the opportunity to sit down and speak with two CTE professionals to discuss the emerging trends they’re seeing in CTE and how the market continues to grow as the need for curriculum resources and training opportunities for students increase.
Here’s what they had to say:
Dusty Moore, iCEV president at CEV Multimedia
For Dusty Moore, CTE is part of his blood. He is the son of a CTE teacher, a product of a CTE program and works with CTE teachers on a daily basis. As a growing segment of the education market, Moore explains that CTE leads the way for innovation in the classroom and prepares students for success after high school when they’re entering the workforce.
With CTE encompassing 94 percent of high school students, and 8.4 million individuals seeking post-secondary training in CTE fields, Moore also stressed the need to work with schools and businesses to develop industry-backed certifications for students to earn in the industries most projected to grow in the next decade.

Lorri Carlile, ACTE president
As the president of ACTE, Lorri Carlile shares that the association has over 20,000 members and continues to grow significantly each month. The 2016 CareerTech VISION conference was the largest conference yet and hosted 4,600 educators, administrators and industry partners.
When asked about the advantages of working with vendors, she said, “now is the prime opportunity for vendors to reach out to educators and professionals in the CTE fields to bring new and exciting programs to school CTE programs.”
